Frequently Ask Questions
CLEANING SERVICES FAQs
What does “clean” mean?
We all have our idea of what “clean” is. In the past, if a facility looked and smelled clean, it was thought to be clean. Even if a facility looks and smells clean, it is not clean until you have killed and removed germs. This is one of the most common Cleaning Services FAQs.
Are germs harmful?
Germs are everywhere, and you cannot see or smell them. While most germs are harmless, some can make people sick. Viruses cause illnesses such as colds and flu. Bacteria are found on almost every surface and can cause infections, diarrhea, and illness. Fungus and mold live in warm, moist areas such as showers, restrooms, kitchens, and near windows. They can cause skin infections and breathing problems.
What is cross-contamination?
Cross-contamination is spreading germs from one part of the facility to another. For example, if you clean the toilets with a cloth, then use the same cloth to clean the kitchen tables, you could spread germs from the restroom to the kitchen. Another common source of cross-contamination in office cleaning services is mopping. If you dip a string mop into a dirty bucket of water from use in another area, you continue to spread germs from floor to floor.
What are hospital-grade disinfectants?
To “disinfect” means to kill germs (a disinfectant). Different disinfectants kill different kinds of germs. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a hospital-grade disinfectant kills three types of germs: Staph, Pseudomonas, and Salmonella. These 3 pathogens cover the broad scope of germ-killing required in hospitals and healthcare facilities.
Do microfiber towels make a difference?
This is a popular Cleaning Services FAQ. Microfiber towels might look like regular towels, but they’re not. If you look at them closely with a microscope, you’ll see channels that can grab and hold dirt, germs, and water. Microfiber is available in many colors. Our process uses specific colors for specific cleaning tasks to prevent cross-contamination.
Why is no-dip mopping necessary?
Our mopping system ensures that mops are never dipped into dirty water. This significantly reduces cross-contamination. Also, microfiber mop pads pick up more dirt than traditional string mops, and the mop design makes it easier to get into corners and hard-to-reach places.
How is a HEPA-Backpack vacuum different?
HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air. This technology allows the vacuum to help improve air quality by removing dust and allergens from the air. These powerful, yet quiet machines, capture 99.97% of airborne particles as small as .3 microns. Traditional upright or canister vacuums only remove about half the particles, leaving a lot of dust in the air, which settles back on furniture, fixtures, and floors. And since the vacuum is worn on the back, it allows quicker movement and more efficient cleaning.
What is green cleaning?
Green cleaning refers to using products and techniques that do not harm the environment. Commercial cleaning equipment and chemical manufacturers continue to provide green cleaning options to the janitorial services industry and office cleaning customers.
How is Jani-Serv, Inc, Inc eco-friendly?
This is one Cleaning Services FAQ that our clients take care of. Jani-Serv, Inc believes that creating a cleaner, healthier environment and providing an eco-friendly commercial cleaning program are compatible goals. The Jani-Serv, Inc, Inc program recommends Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide (AHP) as a hospital-grade disinfectant that uses hydrogen peroxide as its active ingredient and is very effective at killing germs. The color-coded microfiber towels and mop pads use up to 90% less cleaning solution than cotton clothes and can be washed and reused up to 500 times. HEPA filtration vacuums help improve air quality by capturing airborne particles as small as .3 microns. A no-dip flat mopping system with a self-dispensing bucket uses less water and cleaning solution than a traditional string mop and bucket and reduces cross-contamination.
What is a construction clean?
A construction clean, also known as a construction cleanup, is a cleaning service for any construction type job, office, unfinished commercial development, or home. The process involves cleaning the site between construction stages and ensuring the area’s safety. Some of the duties involved in a construction cleanup include trash, and power washing the walkways, sidewalks, driveways, and parking lot.
